2025 Global Forum
To be held on July 27 and August 10 at Incheon National University
Students from Incheon National University and young overseas Koreans from around the world will come together at the university to engage in passionate discussions on mutual prosperity between the Republic of Korea and overseas Korean communities. The vigor and enthusiasm of the younger generation are expected to transcend language and cultural boundaries, evolving into a deep and forward-looking discourse on the future of the global Korean community.
Jointly organized by Incheon National University and the Center for Overseas Koreans Cooperation, the “Global Forum between Incheon National University Students and Overseas Korean Youth” will be held on Sunday, July 27 and Sunday, August 10, at the Faculty Hall and Convention Center on campus. This event is part of the 2025 Next-Generation Overseas Koreans Invitation Program.
The forum will welcome 180 young overseas Koreans invited from Russia and the CIS (Commonwealth of Independent States), North America, Europe, Asia, and Latin America, along with 90 students from Incheon National University. To facilitate effective communication, the event will be conducted primarily in Korean, with consecutive interpretation in Russian and English.
Centered on the theme “Strategies for Mutual Prosperity between Korea and the Overseas Korean Community,” the forum will feature keynote presentations by Professors Kim Bu-yong and Kim Jong-in from the School of Northeast Asian Studies at Incheon National University, adding academic depth to the discussions.
A highlight of the event will be the group discussions, where participants will be divided into four groups under the guidance of moderators to exchange views, share experiences, and reflect on the shared theme. These discussions are anticipated to be the most dynamic and engaging component of the forum.
Lim Joo-ah, a student from the School of Northeast Asian Studies, expressed her anticipation by stating:
“Global exchange is essential to my field of study, and I’m truly looking forward to meeting and sharing thoughts with overseas Korean youth. I hope to explore ways of collaboration through their local experiences and perspectives on Korea.”
Hong Jin-bae, Director of External Affairs Strategy at Incheon National University and the organizer of the event, remarked:
“We wholeheartedly welcome the 180 overseas Korean youth visiting their homeland. It is a pleasure to witness such meaningful academic exchange with our students. Reflecting Incheon’s identity as the region with the largest migrant population in Korea, we will continue to promote exchange and cooperation with overseas Koreans and fulfill our public mission as a national university.”
