July 9 – Visit to the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Kyrgyzstan and Urban Air Pollution Seminar Held as Part of the KOSAE Overseas Exploration Program
– Discussions on Establishing a Branch Office, Building Partnerships for Environmental Technology Cooperation, and Exploring New KOICA-Linked Projects –
The Incheon Innopolis Research & Business Group at Incheon National University (Director: Prof. Hee-Kwan Lee) visited Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan from July 8 to 13, 2025 as part of the Overseas Exploration Program of the Korean Society for Atmospheric Environment (KOSAE). The visit aimed to strengthen international cooperation and explore the commercialization of environment-related technologies, resulting in a number of meaningful achievements.
During the visit, the delegation held official meetings with key organizations, including the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Kyrgyzstan, the American University of Central Asia (AUCA), the KOICA Kyrgyzstan Office, the Bishkek City Government, and local companies specializing in heat pump technologies. These engagements focused on creating a collaborative platform to support the global expansion of companies in the Incheon Innopolis and exploring diverse avenues for technological cooperation.
July 10 – Opening Ceremony of the AUCA Branch Office
At AUCA, a branch office opening ceremony was held for the Incheon Innopolis, marking a step beyond traditional research collaboration. AUCA proposed a tripartite cooperation model linking universities (research), local governments (administrative support), and industry (technology commercialization) to promote not only joint research but also the business development and commercialization of research outcomes.
Concrete ideas for technology commercialization—such as air quality monitoring and improving building energy performance—were shared, and discussions were held on implementing demonstration projects.
Furthermore, AUCA has been officially invited to participate in the 4th Incheon International Environmental Technology Conference, to be held in October at Songdo Convensia in Incheon, where a joint workshop and technical session will be organized as part of this practical cooperation.
July 10 – Visit to Heat Pump Facility
Discussions with the KOICA Kyrgyzstan Office focused on air pollution mitigation projects targeting the Bishkek and Chuy regions. Key project components include the development of a comprehensive air quality management plan, the introduction of heat pump technology, and the need for scientific analysis and the establishment of an emissions inventory.
Through this visit to Kyrgyzstan, the Incheon Innopolis Research & Business Group strengthened its foundation for international cooperation in Central Asia, promoted the global dissemination of environmental technologies, and presented a public-contribution-oriented technology cooperation model, thereby enhancing the international presence of the Incheon Innopolis.
