The Inclusive Society Consortium of the Incheon National University Humanities and Social Sciences Convergence Talent Development Project Group (HUSS, Director: Professor Woosuk Ok / Division of International Trade, Incheon National University) participated in the ‘2025 HUSS Convergence Camp’ held at Lahan Select Hotel in Gyeongju for four days and three nights from July 8 to 11, fostering convergence competencies and engaging in exchanges with students from other universities.

This year’s camp, co-hosted by the Ministry of Education and the National Research Foundation of Korea, was successfully held with the participation of approximately 900 attendees, including representatives and students from over 50 universities involved in the HUSS program nationwide. The Humanities and Social Sciences Convergence Talent Development Project (HUSS) is a national strategic initiative jointly promoted by the Ministry of Education and the National Research Foundation of Korea. Its aim is to foster creative talent needed in future society through convergence education that breaks down boundaries between universities, departments, and academic disciplines.
As the lead university of the “Inclusive Society” consortium, Incheon National University actively participated in the camp alongside Sogang University, Pukyong National University, Daegu University, and Sangji University, playing a central role within the consortium.
The HUSS (Humanities and Social Sciences) consortium is a national university-level network for convergence education based on diverse themes in the humanities and social sciences. Through the “Inclusive Society” consortium, Incheon National University is building a convergence education system centered on the humanities and social sciences, and is actively implementing a variety of programs aimed at cultivating practical convergence talent capable of contributing to solving sustainable social issues.

A total of 26 students from Incheon National University participated in the camp, and Vice President for External Affairs Junhan Lee and HUSS Project Group Director Woosuk Ok (Professor, Division of International Trade) visited the camp site in person to encourage the students and share the direction and vision of the HUSS project.
This camp consisted of ▲convergence lectures by the 10 HUSS consortia on major themes ▲special lectures by HUSS experts ▲advanced field lectures (linked with COSS) ▲guest lectures by prominent speakers ▲competitions and local exploration programs, and was designed to help students actively participate and develop their convergence competencies. In particular, a variety of side programs were provided to support career exploration and self-understanding, including the “Gyeongju Promotion Idea Contest” linked with APEC Insights, personal color analysis, AI beauty mirror experience, tarot career counseling, and image-making.
Among them, Kim Dae-eun from the Department of Sports Science at Incheon National University won 3rd place (Encouragement Award) in the “Gyeongju Promotion Idea Contest,” achieving external recognition for her creativity and problem-solving ability.
Meanwhile, Incheon National University announced that students will also participate in the upcoming “2025 HUSS Convergence Camp” scheduled to be held at Konjiam Resort in Gwangju, Gyeonggi-do from August 18 to 20. In this camp, team-based convergence programs such as ▲hackathon ▲AI competition ▲short-form contest will be operated, and awards including the Minister of Education Award, the President of the National Research Foundation of Korea Award, and the HUSS Council Chair Award will be presented.
The HUSS Project Group at Incheon National University plans to continue encouraging greater student participation through the operation of various convergence programs and will continuously strive to foster convergence-type talent equipped with both humanities and social insight and scientific-technological understanding.
